Williams, AZ and Grand Canyon

Our first destination on our journey was the nostalgic town of Williams and the Grand Canyon in Arizona. We stayed at a charming RV park in the heart of Williams, Arizona. Downtown Williams is located right along the historic Route 66 and is chock full of vintage restaurants, motels and shopping. We checked our dog, Chloe, into the Pet Resort at the RV Park for the day and boarded a beautifully restored 1951 train en route to the wondrous Grand Canyon.

The two hour train ride to the Grand Canyon afforded gorgeous views, including wild horses, cattle, elk and prairie dog sightings. We were also treated to live music by talented old west entertainers on both legs of the trip. On our return to Williams, we were surprised and amused by a (mock) train robbery! Bandana and pistol clad cowboys on horses hastily commandeered the train. Once aboard those unruly outlaws firmly yet playfully demanded our money (AKA their tip). Once at the Grand Canyon, we enjoyed a tour of the Grand Canyon National Park, with an abundance of amazing photo ops. The Grand Canyon lives up to its name, it is easy to see why it is one of the natural wonders of the world!
